Potassium Humate is the potassium salt of humic acid and often the terms humic acid, potassium humate, and humates are used interchangeably. K Humate is very soluble compared to many other forms, and can easily be absorbed by crops and pasture meaning it has high utilization rates.

Effectively K humate is a soluble organic potash fertilizer. K humate is produced by the alkaline extraction of Leonardite or Lignite (Brown coal). It is predominantly used as a soil conditioner to increase the efficiency of other fertilisers applied to pasture and soil.

K Humate also contains fulvic acid, another naturally occurring soil acid resulting from the extraction process.  All these components are found naturally in the humus of soil.

K humate is commonly used as a soil amendment in pastoral farming systems due to its ability to improve soil health and plant growth. Here are a few ways that potassium humate can help in pastoral farming systems:

  1. Soil Conditioning: K humate can improve soil structure by increasing the amount of organic matter in the soil. It can also improve the soil's water-holding capacity and aeration, which can lead to better root growth and overall plant health.
  2. Nutrient Availability: K humate can increase the availability of nutrients in the soil, such as nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. This can improve the overall health and growth of plants, leading to better forage production.
  3. Stress Tolerance: K humate can also help plants to better tolerate environmental stress, such as drought or cold temperatures, by increasing the uptake of water and nutrients.
  4. Disease and Pest Resistance: K humate can also help to improve the resistance of plants to diseases and pests.
  5. Improving the soil's microorganisms: K humate can improve the soil's microorganism population, which can lead to better soil health and plant growth.

It's important to note that the use of Potassium humate should be done under the guidance of a professional and that the use of potassium humate may be subject to regulations, so it is important to check the local regulations before using it in pastoral farming systems.
