Looking out for a better deal?

Finding fert and better deals for farmers and growers.

Fert Finda was founded on the principle that farmers and growers should, and can, get a better deal. After years of working as a dairy farmer in Taranaki, King Country and Southland, followed by five years as Tow and Fert National Sales Manager, Mike Smith has built up an exceptional knowledge base across the fertiliser field.

Mike has always been an innovator, someone who will try things, measure the results and try again. This approach led him down the foliar path with Tow and Fert, becoming the first Tow and Fert Contractor in New Zealand in 2013 with the purchase of a Tow and Fert Multi 4000.

Mike says “I’ve always enjoyed helping farmers be more efficient with their inputs. The industry has a lot of room for improvement when it comes to cost, efficiency and outcomes but a lot of this improvement is not made available to farmers and growers. What I aim to do is to share my knowledge and experience, and help farmers and growers make better use of their input systems.”

"It's all about helping farmers grow more with less. The days of 'more-on' are long gone and efficiency is whats important. Getting the most out of what you put on. Simple."

Now Mike offers farmers and growers expertise on farm in both foliar application and solid or slurry applications and is happy to work with them in whatever method they choose to apply their machinery and staff.

For me, it is about helping farmers and growers understand that they can farm and grow more efficiently with a wider range of products available. Many of these products work incredibly well, are more efficient, are better for the environment and the outcomes for the farm or orchard are better in many aspects of the business.”

Advice & Consulting

Many of the products on Fert Finda are not easily found, or little is known about them and how they can play a pivotal role in increasing efficiency out of the input spend.

Saving money on a farm’s inputs can actually be pretty easy when we get down to it. It does take an open mind and the ability to see things differently, but it can be done without too much fuss or change.”

But in this current market and with things likely to increase cost pressures in the future, saving money on inputs through efficiency, changes in product applications, etc, savings can be made and better results can be achieved.

Mike says “It’s pretty simple. I am motivated by seeing farmers and growers create more efficient and profitable businesses. If Fert Finda can help them do this then that is what we are here for.”
